Cathy's Flannels for the country

Country folk seem to enjoy the outdoors more. Maybe that is because the outdoors is so much nicer in the country than it is in the city. Do ya think???

Anyway, many of the locals have RVs, trailers, boats, etc that they take out on week-ends. Real estate is pretty pricey in southern California. A quarter acre of residential land goes for $100k - $200k. Now that's within 10 miles of downtown; it gets more expen$ive in downtown. The further out you live, the more land you can buy for your $$. So if you want to have all the toys (RV, jet skis, desert bikes) you need the space to keep them, that's the country. Some of these RVs can be pretty big and fancy. My neighbor, for example, just bought his 3rd RV in 5 years. He just keeps trading up. This one has 2 pop-outs, awnings and lots of storage. It even has a camera and speaker that points out the rear of the RV so he can see to park the thing. Anyway, I digress.

When people spend time on their vehicles, they don't want to pack and unpack them everytime they use them. You stock your RV so it is ready to roll at a moments notice. Which is why Cathy made these two flannel trailer quilts. They will stay in her RV for those chilly nights roasting marshmallows around the campfire. Idyllic, huh?

So I free-motioned the pink quilt with loops and flowers and used Signature Pinks on the top and bottom.
The lasagna quilt got the Bear Moose Pine 4 panto by Deb Geisler. It had bears with pine trees and moose. Very outdoorsy. I used Signature Mustard yellow thread to make it show the pattern of the critters. Oh, and I free-motioned some pine boughs and pine cones in the corners.

Thanks for the pictures. We just purchased a pop-up camper for the back of the truck, probably one of the smallest RV types that you can get. I need to make a quilt for it. Now I know what to do with all the flannel scraps I have. /paula

My life has changed in the last couple of years - some bumps, I retired from quilting, and then I moved to Texas. I'm anxious to see what new adventures await me in the next phase of my life.
