Southern California is on Fire

Four years ago today, San Diego was devastated by the Cedar fire. Today, there were 8 separate fires burning out of control. Strong Santa Ana winds from the deserts east of San Diego continue to gust and spread the fire west toward the Pacific Ocean. Some of the fires have merged.

The entire town (40,000 souls) of Ramona was put under mandatory evacuation orders yesterday. The fires continue to burn out of control. Visibility is so bad that air tankers cannot fly into the fire zones to drop water or fire retardants. The Witch Creek fire near Ramona has spread all the way to the ocean, almost 40 miles away.

Four years ago 50,000 people were evacuated. Currently there are 250,000 people evacuated from their homes in San Diego county. This photo shows the fires all over southern California as of noon today.

My life has changed in the last couple of years - some bumps, I retired from quilting, and then I moved to Texas. I'm anxious to see what new adventures await me in the next phase of my life.
