Ramona Quilt Show 2009

The Back Country Quilters put on a quilt show every year. The opportunity quilt welcomed quilters to the show at the Mountain View Community Church. This sun-flowered beauty, named Golden Summer, was the opportunity quilt raffled off at the show. Regina and I did the quilting. Sharon H won the quilt after purchasing one ticket. Lucky, huh?

This years show had over 100 quilts and was well attended. There are always some beautiful quilts, garments, pincushions and the like every year. I have had a vendor's booth at the show for the past three years. Setup is always Thursday with the show on Friday and Saturday. The decorating committee always has lots of antiques and decorator items displayed along the aisles of quilts. The Olive Peirce Middle School Dance Club worked the snack bar for us this year selling donated baked goods and our local favorite, Taco Soup, recipe by Myrl B. Yummy.

Here is a photo of Connie F, stuffing the raffle ticket bin. Behind her you can see the entrance to the quilt show. Our show is free admission but we do count the visitors.

We also had a consignment shop at the quilt show where folks could sell some of their wonderful projects. Here are the ladies who worked the shop, from left to right, Diane, Myrl, Eanne, and Carolyn. I bought a fabulous fabric puzzle, toy, pin cushio made by Naomi F. I love this pin cushion but I think it may be too pretty to put pins in it.

Some of the vendors included the tool guys out in front with every kind of gizmo; there was a rug lady who crochets the most beautiful rugs, Wood tools for quilters, Ellie and Elvis, Kimmie and Deb from the Crazy 9 Patch Quilt Shop, Pfaff sewing machine, and Buck's Feed Sacks.

All in all, it was a good show, though my feet still ache from standing in one spot. Oh, I almost forgot to show off my silk quilt which I allowed quilters to touch while they were at my booth. I quilted it to showcase some of my free-motion quilting skills. I also used about 6 different background fills that I learned over on Machine Quilter's Resource web-site. It attracted alot of attention to my booth...which, of course, is why I made it to begin with.

I'll make a separate post for a mini quilt show.

You need to put your silk quilt in the San Diego show next year. It is gorgeous and it's not something you see around every corner. People would enjoy seeing it and be inspired for sure!

I wish I was Sharon H. I love that quilt.

My life has changed in the last couple of years - some bumps, I retired from quilting, and then I moved to Texas. I'm anxious to see what new adventures await me in the next phase of my life.
