Debbie made this quilt for her son Nik to take to college next month. Nik is an amazing young man. He graduated Saludatorian from high school. He set up and managed his own internet service providing company when he was 16. He has always kept his eye on the ball, though. He wanted to go to an ivy league university. He has a "full ride" scholarship to Harvard University. His mother is so proud.
So this quilt is for his dorm room at Harvard. It is made from watery-colored batiks. The patterns is called Chinese Coins. She wanted an all-over quilt job like a photo that she saw in a quilting magazine.
I used Superiors Thread #930 King Tut Thebes. It is blues and aquas, looks like a warerfall. I did double-swirls in a large design so I could cover the seams of the sashing. I don't want those sashing corners popping up. I hope she likes it.
